New box trailers for Knights of Old

New box trailers for Knights of Old

November 2011

Transport and distribution specialists Knights of Old Ltd has added to its equipment portfolio with the introduction of three box trailers and nine additional double deck trailers.

The box trailers, which are already in operation, are being utilised for the company’s ever growing European service. Kelvin Gingell, Technical Director, Knights of Old said: “The box trailers are working well on the continent due to the load lock deck system. Not only does the system give us benefits seen traditionally by double decks, such as increased capacity, there is additional safety for the loading and unloading process due to the design of the deck system. The trailers have increased capacity without increasing height and length of the trailer.”

Six of the 12 trailers will be in the distinctive Knights of Old livery, with three in Partnerlink’s design and the remaining three will feature a large client’s livery. Knights of Old will have taken delivery of all trailers by the end of November.

All of the trailers, which were manufactured by SDC Trailers in Mansfield, carry the new reflective strips which run the length of the trailer as well as outlining the rear doors. These new safety features have been introduced to increase visibility at night to other road users.
